2005 World Folklore Festival
Drummondville, Quebec (Canada)

The Forrester Dance Company was invited to represent Canada at the World Folklore Festival in Quebec, along with 20 other countries. Their repertoire consisted of Highland dancing, Celtic Stepdancing and Scottish national dances. They were accompanied by a Celtic Orchestra including pipers, drummers, violinist and bodhran players.

300,000 spectators attended the shows and International Parade during this prestigious Festival. While there, the dance company musicians were chosen to record a CD by ARC Music in the UK which will be released for worldwide distribution in 2006. The Dance Company was truly honored to be chosen for this opportunity. The CD booklet will be translated into four languages.

Each country was invited to participate in the Festival's visual arts series. This year's theme was entitled "For the Love of Dance".

Each country was provided with one canvas, paint and the necessary supplies to create their masterpieces. After the festival, the artwork is auctioned off and the proceeds donated to charity.

We were fortunate to have an up-and-coming artist amongst our dance company; Eileen and Shannon selected Suzanne McNeil to have the honor of depicting our interpretation of "For the Love of Dance".
